I hear it is possible to create a recovery disk on only one DVD-R for my Vaio laptop. I lost my disks and need to recreate them, but the recovery app fails after a few disks. I'm told by a shop that wants to charge me $150 that they only use one disk.

What I need to know is what type of DVD-R can I buy that would have the capacity to hold all the recovery disks data?
    Thanks,
    Cathy

...also...these recovery disk have been discontinued, which is why I need to re-create. I have tried the TrueImage software and the same errors happen...so I would like to try again, but with only one disk if possible.
    Thanks

...and has anyone used the data transfer method when upgrading to a new hard drive? I see this a lot on the internet, but not when I inquire at the geek squad or elsewhere.
    thanks,

One thing I found out about creating the recovery discs is that you have to turn off all apps, peripherals such as wireless and bluetooth, anti virus, etc.

You don't specify your model (which you always should if posting here asking for help), but if the recovery disk has been discontinued by Sony, it means it's an OLD laptop, and might not have a DVD burner. And a DVD burner, preferably a Dual Layer (DL) one, is how you get everything on a single disc.
