Personally i got the Z555dnb for $1799. retail:1999 still within return period. But concider the canadian dollars are very very low. and japanese currency is going up. I think the new model will be more expensiver.
Coming up canadian model:
VGN-Z620D
http://www.docs.sony.com/release/SPECS/VGNZ620D_mksp.pdf
z690CTO
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...Id=20153&langId=-1&LBomId=8198552921665746555
Here is what i do the math:
z590cto is 185 dollars more than a pre-configured model like z555dnb with the same spec.
That means cto is 135 more than pre-configured
On the z690cto page. p8600 is gone, only p8700. upgrade from 8600 to 8700 is 150 different.
Now back to the z620d spec (p8600,4gb,320hdd)
I configure z690cto as same spec(except with a p8700) as the z620d, price:2578.
Now 2578-150(cpu)-185=2243=VGN-Z620D
Sony might make it like 2199.99
VGN-Z620D(p8600,4gb,320gb 7200) 32bit $2199
(can't use 4gb even under 32bit)
VGN-Z555DNB(p8600,3gb,250gb 5400) 32bit $1999
so, for extra 200 dollars for the 1gb ram and a bigger faster hdd.
but consider i pay mine 1799 as a deal. for 400 dollars different maybe not worth it.
-
yeah I don't think it's really worth it.
If you can get a 320 7300 otherwise though, it's worthwhile. -
you title says current Z has BT 2.1 EDR but I don't see anything in your post talking about that ????
-
you really need to make your post a bit more comprehensible.....
-
yeah take a deep breath and try again
-
where did you get z555 for 1799?

Well I also got the Z555/DNB for $1899 with a 3 year warrenty. And noticed this new Z620. Its the same thing like mentioned above with just more RAM and Hard Drive installed. I mean big deal, not worth that much more as you can easily walk into your local computer store and do that yourself. So Thank GOD I didnt wait for this one to come out. I thought they would have added a lot more to it then just that.

Thank you guys for mentioning Firmware. As Sony as finally updated the firmware at www.sony.com . Get this update!! cuz I dunno about anyone else but Ive been having an issue with my Touchpad, it keeps lagging and stopping now and then. So thats resolved, and they do mention that they fixed something with the Touchpad so yea. Cheers!
-
where is the link to the firmware update?? can you post it please
-
ok he was talking about a bios update .....
-
can anyone with the newer 5xx Zs please tell me if the battery drain problem is still there?
-
There is a bluetooth driver update some may not have here. It is version 6.2.0.5800.
-
-
I think this is not possible, there are only driver files in this package...
-
so I am assuming that you can buy the firmware update from here?
http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth_update.php -

Yea I was refering to the Firmware update for BIOS. But make sure you upgrade it anyway even though thats not what you guys are talkin about.
-
Well I have found even newer 6.2.0.7400 drivers from Anycom which seem to work. They do install to "program files/anycom" though.
I have also tracked down what looks like Bluetooth 2.1 UHE firmware for the VGN-SZ750N/C. The version of the firmware however is HCI 4.143 LMP 4.8557 which seems to be older than the firmware on my Vaio Z HCI 4.218 LMP 4.8594. I haven't attempted to install it however. -
Current Model of Z has Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
