Custom FE ships tomorrow!?!?

Ever since I ordered my FE on Jan. 27th my status had been "In Progress"

Before the notebook will ship, it has to go through "scheduled for production" and "product testing" and such.

Today my order status updated all of those and said that my notebook was ready for shipment with tomorrows date.

It looks like when the customer service told us the 15th, they meant the 15th.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Keep in mind, I ordered my custom laptop on the 27th of January and I am guessing the earlier you ordered your notebook, the quicker it will get made and shipped.

If you haven't already ordered, the site says you are gonna be waiting until April.

 

There must be a major shortage of Dual Core chips - just about everyone making DC laptops seems to be shipping late (Lenovo for example...). Early bird gets the worm!

 

I ordered my customized FE590 on Feb. 9th, and at the time of my order it said "CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK" under the status listing, but it also listed the est shipping date as Feb. 14th. Now that the 14th has come and gone, the est ship date says "Ship Date Unknown." Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm wondering if some people, like the first poster, were given an updated date and others like me will get screwed with weeks/months of delays. Hopefully I can clear this up by calling during their bus. hours tomorrow...i'm just a little anxious about the order though, as i need the laptop for work. I really don't understand why Sony doesn't offer any retail models with the graphics card, since that's the only reason why I (and I suspect many others) customized...actually, i think that question answers itself, as far as Sonystyle's business is concerned. Anyway, any input would be much appreciated.

Yes that is EXACTLY what happened to me. I ordered on the 27th of Jan. and my estimated shipping date was Feb 6th. When that date rolled around, Nothing happened and the estimated shipping date changed to "ship date unknown".

Now it has updated everything and seems to be ready to ship today. I'll let you know if it really does.

fuyuki, if you customize right now, you wont get your notebook until April. I ordered in Jan. so the earlier you ordered the quicker you get it I suppose.

If any of you guys ordered close to Jan 27th, your notebook should be shipping soon!

I ordered mine on Feb 3rd and am also getting the 'Out of stock' message. I'll let you know when i hear anything else.

 

Update: I called Sonystyle customer service just now, and they expect my order to ship towards the end of the week. The rep was pretty vague on the phone, which made me have my doubts, but I just checked and saw that the charge for the sytem was posted on my account (as "pending" on my debit card, but not yet taken out of the account). Hopefully this means that all of us who ordered at least by Feb. 9th will be getting our stuff!

 

I ordered on the 25th and it shipped yesterday...so hopefully I will get it tomorrow or the day after as they were too cheap to upgrade the shipping to 2 day...

 

This is a response I just got from sony customer care:

I just did find out what the major problem has been in terms of information retrieval (sounds like something out of Terry Gilliam's Brazil). While this has all been happening, there have been some structural changes in the Customer Service group, as well as software importation issues. Translation: getting the info has been tougher than a $1.99 steak ordered at a truck stop in West Texas. This just in: the issue is the NVIDIA card has been the major hold-up. Looks like it has pushed production back two weeks. Still waiting for the final numbers as to build date through to ship date. Again, my apologies and my appreciation for your patience.

 

They did ship mine yesturday, so everyone should be getting theirs soon!
