    Hi all!

I'm not a super pro when it comes to laptop repair, but I have fixed and replaced parts on many machines in the past 20 years. (I have successfully replaced a hard drive on a clamshell iBook in the past) So I'm comfortable doing most repair and replacement work.

I have my sister's Sony Vaio vgn-txn15p that's been sitting on my shelf since she broke the screen a few years ago. I had been waiting for replacement LCD prices to come down (HAHAHAHA) but they just go up instead. Not worth the money to fix it.

However, I live in Japan. Used PC and laptop parts here are crazy cheap. (were talking similar laptops with only a hard drive and power supply missing for the equivalent of $20)

That comes to my question... Whenever I search LCDs for this machine I get maybe one other model (VGN-TX25C) that is claimed to be compatible. But when I find parts machines here in Japan, I have found several (VGN-TX50B, VGN-TX52B, VGN-TX72B etc.) that have the same form factor and the LCD seems to have the same specs.

I want to keep the repair of this as cheap as possible to make it worthwhile, or else I'd just buy one and test it. Anybody have any experience or advice on this? My only option in the past was getting a parts machine from the US or Europe but the shipping makes it not worth it.

    Thanks!

Turns out they are compatible. Just got a new screen for my laptop for about $10 out of a TX93S housing.

Just check the size, look at the connections in the picture, and you should be fine. Very happy to have this little laptop up and running again.
