My VGN-CR120E is having issues fully detecting its pioneer DVD drive. It shows up in the device manager as "PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K17 ATA Device" with a yellow hazard sign with an exclamation point on top of it. My computer did not come with a driver CD, and I have not been able to find the driver either on sony's esupport site or on pioneer's site. It is detected in the BIOS, but the drive does not show up under My Computer.

    Any ideas? Thanks

edit: One more thing, when I uninstall the driver and reboot, Vista tries to reinstall the driver, but the installation fails.

Asked and answered numerous times. Use the search box at the top of the page here and search for "Vista DVD registry" without the quotes.

This just occured to me and I found a solution. Go to vaio recovery center and reinstall the following progs : roxio media creator, sonic stage (all) and restart.

Did you uninstall any of the above progs and did a registry clean up? If so the above method works. Don't use Ccleaner. It removes important registry entries.
