I was having problem with copying a DVD using Roxio Easy Media Creator, after copying when it asks for a blank disk, I inserted a blank disk and it was saying the disk is not supported. I tried with DVD-R, RW, CD, but got the same message. So, I uninstalled Roxio which was bundled with the laptop. I had read about problems with uninstalling DVD writing softwares on Vista on this forum, but after uninstalling the DVD drive was still showing, and then I installed Nero. But when I tried to use Copy Disk, it was gave a message as "the program has closed unexpectedly". But the DVD drive was still showing. I then uninstalled Nero and reinstalled it, and now DVD drive doesn't show anymore. Could anyone please guide me a specific information to fix this without using system restore. Does it happen because of a bug in Vista or the DVD software?

This has been asked several times. Search using the phrases "dvd drive disappeared" in the top most search box.

This works for vista too. -
Thanks coolguy, that fixed te problem.
This problem seems to be quite common, since there are many posts on this. There should be a better way to install/uninstall DVD softwares than messing with registry. Is it XP/vista OS problem or the software? -
The problem is not over yet. Go and check back your nero. It won't detect your dvd drive (may be I am wrong). You might want to unistall and then reinstall it. The same exact thing happened to me when I unistalled roxio. I think it's more of a problem with xp/vista.

I burned a DVD after that, so its working. But I noticed the DVD drive letter is now H, I don't remember what was it before all this, now the computer shows C ,D(memory stick), E(SD card), and H(DVD drive). I don't think its any problem, but just curious to know what was it originally.
