    DVD firmware upgrade for FE21S

    For the first time I tried to record a double-layer DVD at 2.4x on an FE21S and got a write error about half-way into the first layer. The blank was an Aone DL +R, RICHOHJPN-D01-67.

    On doing a little research, it may be that I need to update the DVD drive firmware. The drive is a DVD RW DW-G520A with a current firmware version of GFS1. I see that version GYS4 is now available (for UK/Europe).

    Has anyone upgraded their firmware to GYS4 and have there been any problems? I am sure there must be a way of saving the current GFS1 before flashing GYS4 (just in case!) - does anyone know how to do this?

    Any assistance would be appreciated.
