    DVD problem

    I burn Data Dvd's with Nero 7 or some other burning software
    and i have the following problems
    1. If i burn with nero the burn fails
    2. i tried to burn with some other software and even though i completed the burn when i put the dvd into the drive i cant see any files its says blank cd

    Anyone know whats going wrong ???

    My laptop is Sony Vaio VGN-FE11S

    First check if there is a newer firmware version for the optical drive.

    Second try a different brand of DVDs. Sometimes the burners aren't set up properly for some media (this can be fixed in a firmware update). I once had a Sony notebook which couldn't burn Sony branded CDs. :eek:

    Nero is good because it will, if the option is selected, verify the burn.

    sometimes the optical drives just forget who they are :eek:

    try deleting the driver and reboot

    it should now work.......

    Or you can try burning w/ Imgburn -- it's freeware, under 2MB's and by default also verifies the burn. Simple to use w/ no bloat--lean & mean!!
