I have a TZ-16 with a DVD drive running Vista. Lately I've been having this problem where the DVD drive cannot be accessed in Vista. Device manager shows status as "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)". Whenever I load a DVD in, the drive spins but cannot read the disc. Rebooting doesn't help. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive but same result. Checking for solutions online doesn't yield any results either. Only happens in Windows. The drive works fine in AV mode. Anyone experienced this before? Any solutions?

Try it. Vista has the same old registry.
