I was watching a brand new DVD of 'Crash' and it was looking soooo **** pixelated on my super new Vaio FS840 ! What could be the reason? I just got it yesterday and have just started to play with it...later on I plan to clean install it and put in 2 gigs of kingston... but this DVD issue is killing me .... the dvd is pretty good as saw it on desktop...so there must be something that I shud do to make DVDs look as if they are DVDs only...not a VHS:thumbdown ...I also could not find any prob with the screen as its Very Very bright and beautiful with rest of the stuff like pics and things...So could it be video drivers issue with a brand new Vaio which causes probs with videos ??

What DVD software are you using? Try downloading a trial of powerDVD and see if it looks any better. If that doesnt work there is a free program that plays DVDs its called VideoLAN VLC.

If that doesnt work then it could be a grpahics driver problem in which case you will have to upgrade to the latest one.

You are right when you say this shouldnt happen on a new laptop and its puzzling that it does. If you cant fix it then perhaps you can email Sony Suport?

I am using InterVideo WinDVD, its one of the best DVD softwares out there...still i m facing this problem!

Anyway today I will give a try by playing videos after copying them from dvd (just to make sure is it the dvd drive that is spoiling the party?)... anyone knows which is best software for copying dvds... i tried Easy-Clone but it hanged on my lappy..so m steering clear of it.
