In the advanced BIOS menu, we can find the settings to limit the RAM frequency down to 800MHz or 667MHz.
Lower frequency may give lower latency, and hence outperforms in certain applications which are sensitive to memory latency.
However, there is a risk that by changing the frequency of RAM, the laptop will be bricked! And there is no easy way to change the settings back as the laptop will not boot!
My question is, does there exists anyone who's brave enough to give a try and report the results?![]()

. If the BIOS allows the switching of RAM frequency, chances are that you will not bork the notebook, unless you try something outside the allowed parameters.
. Saying that - I would like to see your trying it. I don't have the Z and the BIOS supporting this frequency switching.

Keep your RAM in sync with your processor's FSB, so leave it at 1066MHz.

Explanation: 1066 MHz is really 533 MHz internally, running against a 266 MHz bus. The transfer speed is 1066 Mhz as it pumps data four times per bus cycle (twice per internal cycle). But each transfer has to start at a 266 MHz bus cycle, and you can't transfer individual bytes from random locations faster than that.
Both 800 MHz and 533 MHz will be able to sync against a 266 MHz bus.
667 MHz RAM, on the other hand, won't, and will likely be slower than 533 MHz as a result.
