    Hi all,
My first post here, a friend just asked me to take a look at his FRV-37, because he dropped it from a height of about 3 feet, and it landed on the power plug. The only visible damage is that it broke the plastic out of the center of the plug on the computer, but if you play with the plug, it will still charge the battery. The main problem is that when you turn it on, you can hear it power up, but there is no display. I've attached an external monitor to it, and still no display. I was looking on eBay to see what I could get out of it for him in the condition it's in, and I saw a listing for www.laptoponcall.com, and they say that it's a common problem, and they can usually fix it for under $100 (plus shipping, of course.) I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with these people, and if it's worth a shot? They say the typical cause is a MOSF power chip and that's what they replace for $99. I gave the guy $150 for the laptop since that's what they normally sell for on eBay in that condition, so I'm just considering getting it fixed for my own use (he had no interest in putting more than $50 into repairing it since he bought a new desktop off of me.) Any input on this would be greatly appreciated, I've owned my own business building and repairing desktops, but I've always avoided laptops like the plague.
    Thanks in advance
