I have a SR290 which i purchase via sonystyle on 11/26/08, so after like 4 months i just realized that i have a dead pixel on my bottom right corner, is there anything i can do? Does my limited 1 year warranty covers this? It is so sad...

EDIT: wait...maybe i got confused ,i think i have a stuck pixel...i think its a dot on my screen that isnt going away, its not black either it like redish when i have a white page over it while over a black page its greyish i think

most companys have a pixel policy where they allow a certain amount of defect in the panel. you would have to look up sonys dead pixel policy to see. usually its like 3 or more so it doesnt look good. there is also different classes of panels

lol @ (8 dead pixel policy) no its like 3 or 4

I based it off here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=151947

    In an article in 2005

    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2211

I would go with the 5 out of all of these

Answers are everywhere but I would not go off ridiculing people without at least looking some stuff up

I had a stuck red pixel on a Lenovo. Believe it or not, I fixed it by massaging the spot that had the stuck pixel. I read it some where and it worked. :D

that's too bad OP. But ONE dead pixel is not that unlucky. Dead pixel are pretty common.

For example Asus for some of their laptop have a zero deal pixel policy. which means if you even have one, they will replace the screen.

+1 for giving a massage, go easy with it though.

    Hi.

Try tapping it softly with a q-tip.

My 2yr old acer have lot of dead pixels. When I first found out about it, I couldn't help but kept staring at it and it really pissed me off, but there is nothing i can do about it so I tried to ignore it. Now i got used to it :D

Haha, i m totally in that phase right now, i keep looking at it every 5 mins or so. but luckyly its on the bottom right corner near the edge, so i dont see it all the time when i m web browsing or typing a doc. I guess i will try the q tip massage, sounds a but safer i guess, thanks john

Jeez, you come here crying about the problem, people here told you exactly what to do to try to fix it, you go back and forth asking all kinds of questions taking up everyone's time when it takes less than 5 minutes to try the fixes suggested. You're not willing to spend 5 minutes of your own time to try out the suggestions but you're willing to waste others' time by posting one message after another.

    Some people...
