I just noticed my very first dead (White) pixel, 3 1/4" from the right edge, 1/4" from the bottom. I tried various suggestion that this forums has offered but nothing has worked. I'm glad that its not in the middle of the screen, but I'm real disappointed that my 4k laptop has a dead pixel! I can't stop looking at it, maybe over time I will forget about it, but as of right now I can't get it out of my mind.

Has anyone been able to get Sony to replace their LCD screen due to 1 dead pixel? I'm waiting for Sony Customer Relations Team to call me back with my options. I'm going to fight hard to get my screen replaced under warranty, even though I know their is a minimum dead pixel requirement.

That sucks. I also had a red and one blue dead pixel on my first Z, I send it back and got a new one. The policy states that if you have the 1080 screen you need to have 10 dead subpixels, two pixel clusters or two white dead pixels (if I remember correct) to get it changed. Everything else is sony's good will. Crossing fingers for you.

I have 1 dead white pixel at the bottom mid on my 1080p screen, vaio Z but I figured it was a lost cause to even try.

I have a dead pixel (glowing blue) near the top right of my Vaio Z. I also didn't bother to try to get it fixed. I didn't think it was worth the arguing, and then waiting weeks and weeks and weeks while Sony keeps my PC, waiting for stock of the replacement screen.

It did annoy me at first, but now I don't notice it - the dust on the screen is much more noticeable!

Tell us how you get on with getting it replaced.

I had them replace a single dead pixel on my screen before
it took around 4 weeks though...
So if you are within warranty, you can give it a try

Didn’t hear back from the Customer Relations Team as of today, so I called them this morning, of course he gave me the usual script about LCD replacements. I would have to send it in and have it examined by the San Diego, CA Service Repair Depot to see if it qualifies for a LCD replacement... 2 weeks w/o my laptop would suck and if they send it back w/o replacing the LCD I will be pissed!..

I’m starting not to notice the dead pixel as much.. Only on white background is when I’m reminded that it is there.

I’m still debating if sending it back is really worth it!

I will receive the box to send the laptop back tomorrow, anyone want to loan me their Z for 2+ weeks?! :D

LCD is @ 100% brightness w/ Privacy Screen

Have you tried (gently!) rubbing the screen over the dead pixel?

    Jay o Why,

    A couple of quick warnings:
    - They may charge you for checking the PC if they decide that the repair does not fit within the warranty. This is 232 euros in Europe. On my instructions they say "Unit would be on hold in our repair workshop until payment." i.e. they don't let you get your PC back until you pay them! Therefore, I'd recommend checking (and possibly even getting something in writing from them) that they won't charge you.

    - My experience (i've used the repair twice) is that they keep the PC much longer than they originally estimate. The first time they had it for repair, they promised two weeks, but in the end, they had it for over a month (awaiting stock). If you search through the forum, you'll see other similar stories, so it seems quite common. Therefore, I think you should assume when they say "2 weeks", they mean "possibly 2 weeks, if you're lucky!"

I'm not saying that you shouldn't send it in. Just wanted to make sure that you're aware of these things.

Thanks for the heads up! I will definitely check with them on the surcharge fees if they conclude that nothing is wrong with the laptop.
