What a time for the forum to have been down. Microsoft did one of their 45% off coupons again yesterday so the Z12 was $824. Now I feel like I got ripped off paying $1140 for the Z11 in May. Microsoft has done this 3 times so far this year. Seriously, if you are interested in laptops. The two big store to keep an eye on are Microsoft and Sears in the US.
-
yeah that really pisses me off cause i got mine last week! isn't there some kind of price protection guarantee on things like that? where did you see this coupon at and was it in-store or online only?
-
Online only. The coupon page is still up but if you try to use it for the Z12, it will so it's no longer valid. It may still work for some of the other computers though. The Dell 13" XPS isn't a bad price at $550 or so. The HP DM4 was $424 but thats sold out too.
Microsoft computers with Signature on sale -
I don't find the z12 listed on their site, they have the z13 though

You mean like right here?
Sony VAIO VPCZ122GX/B 13.1-Inch Notebook - Buy from Microsoft Store
It's on that link I posted right before your last message. -
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
yeah i saw this deal last night on slickdeals... it seriously lasted only about 40 minutes... but that would be mighty easy flipping on ebay considering these go for about ~1200- 1500(buy it now) on ebay
-

Hey guys, i've heard reports that if you call into microsoft, you can still get the deal. Try it if you want it!
-
I did this morning at around 9:40am PST and got this deal. I got a confirmation and case # in my email. As of now it's OOS according to the people on slickdeals. I just happened to check sd this morning and someone posted this deal up and I called immediately. Just dumb luck I guess...
-
Yep. It was alive again this morning. Here's the new deal page.
Microsoft computers with Signature on sale
You can still get the Sony X for $714. -
Ends up being nearly the same price as the Z122 if you do the Sony Trade Ups rebate, since the X only gets you $100 vs. the Z getting you $300.
-
I think I'm going to cry now
I'm in the market for a new laptop and would've jumped on this if I had known about the deal. Sigh. -
god damn i missed it, been looking for the Z12 forever.... what section do you guys usually check it in MSStore for promotion or coupon?
-
If you live close to B&M MS store, you might be able to obtain a 40% off coupon, it will turn $1899 Z133GX into a $1150 one
You might need to buy something from them first, ask for coupon, then buy notebook and return the first item. I shopped there before and they send me the coupon in email.
-
Correct - it's a two day STORE sale only. Lasts until the 24th.
-
Well, it was a three day sale, 20-22, but now only 2 days remain lol
-
No coupon needed. I just talked to the San Diego store. Anything over $1000 is 40% off this weekend.
Here's more clarification.
Anything over $100 is 20% off.
Anything over $500 is 30% off.
Anything over $1000 is 40% off.
That's the total purchase, not per item. So if you buy 5 zunes, it's still 40% off. -
True. And being that it's their one year anniversary, they probably won't do this anytime soon.
-
I don't know why the instore deal isn't getting more interest. People went crazy over the Canadian deal for about the same price. Anyway you look at it, a Z for $1150 is a great deal.
Anzial, maybe you should break it out in it's own thread to get more exposure. I don't want to steal your thunder. -
The problem for the in store deal is there are like only six stores in US...if it's Best Buy or MicroCenter that have this kind of deal I'm sure people will be all over it.
-
Store in mission viejo says you have to bring in a printout of the email because the sale is invitation only. Just a warning, they are real pricks at that location, very rude and unhelpful, this is typical of them.
-
Sure wish they had models with the 512 GB drive.
-
I wanna get this: Sony VAIO VPCZ133GX/B 13.1-Inch Notebook - Buy from Microsoft Store
But don't see 40% off at checkout, do i have to place the order online? how is it work? -
In store only...
-
I don't think we'll see the $824 price again. It was a rare occurrence. Microsoft normally sells things out at 40-45%. This time, there was the double whammy. Microsoft lowered the price to $1499 and then slapped on the 45% coupon. The normal blow out price is what they are doing on the Z13 in store, $1100 or so.
-
I'm thinking about doing the Z13 deal for $1180 in store. I just called and they are desparate. I asked how many Z13s they have left and the CSR said they had plenty, he wanted to know if I'd be interested in a volume discount. He said they are staying open an extra 2 hours tonight. The way I look at it, it'll be $1180 including tax. $300 Sony tradeup makes it $880. I could probably sell my old Z11 for that and thus get a free Z13 upgrade? What do yall think? Am I crazy?
-
if you have a store close buy you'd be crazy NOT to.
closest one for me is 700+ miles away. -
I got the discount and am selling it after all. Not opened
-
You talked me into it. You know, considering they are offering a volume discount. It would have been awesome if someone had setup a group buy for all those on the forum.
-
Whats the diff in the 12 and 13 that makes its $400 more?
-
differences from z11 to z13 are pretty negligible. Z13 has a TPM on the US model unlike the other two. if you don't know what that is (honestly I don't even remember what it stands for) you don't need it and it doesn't matter.
-
Got the last Z13 at my store. There were supposed to have been plenty but the guy before me bought 5 of them. I also got a free t shirt. They had a end of sale raffle. They gave away a Xbox, a Windows 7 phone and a Adamo laptop. Sadly, I didn't get anything.
Anyone interested in a slightly cooked Z11 with loose hinges, cheap!!!!!
-
Good deal.
Too bad there isn't a MS store anywhere close to me.
-

TPM: Trusted Platform Module.
In short, you need it in order to use the BitLocker Encryption that comes with Windows Ultimate. Some businesses require hard drive encryption for their work laptops. -
Thanks for reminding me about the TPM. I'd forgetten. I'm so glad I got the Z13 tonight. The lack of it made me use some other solutions for my Z11. All those solutions have led to nothing but trouble. Encryption for me is a necessity since I keep all my financial data and intellectual property on my laptop. Loosing that in the clear would be an absolute disaster.
-
How much you want for it? I am looking for Z series...
-
Turns out Microsoft is subbing in current models for the old clearance models if they mistakenly cancelled your order. If people start getting the Z13 for $824, I'm going to be even more angry at myself for missing it.
-
Yep. It happened. Microsoft subbed Z113s in for the Z112s to the people who ordered when Microsoft was really OOS. Microsoft is standup. Most vendors would have just canceled.
-
Crazy. One of those $824 Z113 lottery winners sold two of his on ebay for $1000. After ebay and paypal fees he might just break even. What a chimp.
-
I wish I would have caught that. I'm looking on ebay right now, and the Z12s are all going for over $1500
-
Dude, don't shop for a Z12. That's the suckers play. People think that because that's the old model that it's cheaper than the Z13. A Z13 sold yesterday for $1200. You can get the Z13 for the same price as the Z12, so why get the older one?
-
In fact, I had the same questions before and actually asked some of these sellers two years ago. Most of them said they were selling things for a final profit of $20 even though the buy in now price was $800-$1000!!!
And one of them said he was making only $1-$5 from a $500ish worth machine. And he bought a lot from SD. I believe that s**ker....
-
Well, it wasn't as amazing as the Z12 deal, but I just got back from the Grand Opening of the Mall of America Microsoft store in Minnesota and I got a Z13 for $1329.
-
Nice!
10char -
Still happening. Another Z113 sold for $1025 2 days ago.
-
Hahahahahahaha.
That's awesome.
I happened to be working late on a project when I got lucky and found out about the sale. Managed to snag one for myself. I make more money with my work to bother flipping a bunch of laptops on fleaBay.
-Ed -
travfar, you start to sound like a stalker lol
-
where's the deal? BS?
-
deal's been dead since it was posted but travfar just can't let it go lol
-
Still a deal on ebay. Getting a Z13 without tax for $1025 is almost as good as getting a Z12 for $824 + tax = $900 from Microsoft. That's cheaper than what Microsoft was selling the Z13 during it's birthday, $1200ish. Why let go of a good thing?
-
and why would u compare MS store with ebay?
Dead now, but the Z12 was $824 at Microsoft yesterday.
