So I bought a new VAIO AR. Pretty pricey piece of equipment, but I received a unit with a visible black pixel on the left side of the screen. Tried some unlikely fixes, none worked. Ordered another one and sent the one I had back. New one seemed to have one too, but instead of being vivid black, it was greyish. I noticed this difference, wiped it with a wet t-shirt, and it disappeared. Thought process: "Wow, I'm an idiot, just dust or dried spittle."
Now, a week later, it's back. It seems slightly larger than a pixel, and not as black. (In both cases comparing to a dotted i on a website.) Is this in fact a dead pixel that somehow re-energized to life? Or could it be something else? And if so, what can/should I do about it? Or is it as I fear, and nothing can be done?
(And yes, I've tried such things as massaging, flickery graphics, and whatnot. No dice, of course. Though, I wonder if my first cleaning had inadvertently been a successful massage. Further tries do nothing.)

i once had a dead pixel, but i hit the back lid of the LCD and it came back to color again.

you're unlucky to have one
but you're lucky it's not green or red, which is much more annoying
Dead pixel?
