Have any of you guys who own sony notebooks come across dead pixels on the monitor. If so, did you return it or keep it. Im just curious because I am going to purchase an FE soon and didnt know what to do if i got a dead pixel.

It depends where you buy it. For instance I purchased my SZ at a SonyStyle Store and inquired what their dead/stuck pixel policy is, I was told that if there were any just bring it back for an exchange.
Where ever you decide to get it from ask what their policy is first. I'm thinking you have less of a chance of getting a unit replaced from an online retailer than a brick and mortar store other than the Sony Online Store which has a 30 day return policy. -
I thought the industry wide requirement for LCD monitors was 0 dead pixels, LCD TVs are another story.

yea.. i think different places = different policies
make sure you ask before you buy
because here, we can only return or trade if there are 3-5 or more dead pixels
but luckily mine has none -
I swapped an old sony laptop at bestbuy a few years ago for just 1 dead pixel.
They seemed kinda annoyed by it though. -
It depends on the manufacturer, the size etc.
Like Toshiba has an exchange policy for "stuck" pixel only, for dead-pixels unless you have more than 6: no luck.
Apple is similar -
yup check on a per store basis. some might take it back, others will not. best buy says 5 pixels need to be bad, but I'm willing to bet if you yelled in the store they would take it back if you had just 2-3 bad pixels.

There is an excellent article about ISO 13406-2 certification of LCD screens here:
http://www.behardware.com/art/imprimer/519/
According to this article, Sony strictly applies the ISO Class II norm. For a 17 inch LCD monitor, Sony will exchange your screen if you have 3 dead pixels. For a LCD 15" (1024 x 768) screen, Sony will exchange your screen if you have just 2 dead pixels. I saw a new Sony Vaio on display in a store that had a few dead pixels, so it is certainly something to watch out for! -
Here's another in-depth article on it:
