Ive been reading this forum for some weeks now and was pretty much set on getting the SZ. This was until I visited Bestbuy recently and saw the SZ in person- I wasnt expecting it to be that small. Foolish mistake, I guess.
In any case, did any of you consider the FZ before you got the SZ? This would be a desktop replacement for me, and for the same money I can get an FZ with 2.6ghz, Vista Ultimate, 15" screen, upgraded graphics card, etc..
The design on the FZ isnt bad either. It's the only one in the Sony Lineup (apart from TZ and SZ) that has a nice design- it's the equivalent of a macbook pro in terms of style.
I know this is a subjective decision, but if you can, please share why you decided on the SZ.
One last thing- by reading a lot of the posts in this forum, it seems like the FZ has major quality /reliability issues, compared to the SZ.

When I received my first SZ, a 320CP I thought it was a bit small as I hadn't seen it in person but I got use to it fast. Now other laptops look big to me, it's just that you're use to something bigger. I now have a SZ650, and love it. I hadn't considered a FZ, but it does look like a good machine. I love the SZ's design, especially it's all black case and carbon fiber lid, its look was pretty much the deciding factor as well as it's small size and weight - only 4 pounds. The non premium SZ's are also very nice.

I just got my SZ680 yesterday, and i'm extremely happy with it. In fact, I'm actually still quite giggly. Like a little girl.
But anyway, I've been looking for a portable laptop for a while now, and the specs and size of the SZ got me sold. And definitely the looks of it too!
Going from a 15" 7lb. Twinhead laptop to the 13.3" SZ has definitely done wonders to my ego and my back! -
I have the fz now, and use it for college.. while i enjoy the screen size, I decided to ignore the people who said i should get 14 inc or 13 for college...
If I could do it again, I might have gotten the SZ instead, but then again..it's more expensive for the specs you get compared to the fz...
up to you... but in away im happy with my fz b/c i can game with it too.. i barely take my laptop to class anywayand if i did have an sz i would prob be too paranoid to be carrying it around all the time.

As "portable laptop with some power", SZ is hard to beat, and surely much better than XPS1330, its only competition. That being said, I am very happy with my FZ, much like duke2007.
Debating SZ vs FZ - please advise..
