I’m planning on buying a Sony FW within the next two months, but I hate Vista and plan to buy a OEM copy of XP and install that. I read in a few place that a guy declined the Vista EULA and got $200 back from HP, because the EULA says you can get a refund from the manufacturer if you decline.

Has anyone declined the Vista EULA with Sony? Anyone have any success and get any money back? If so what was the process you went about to get it?

    Thanks.

Thats interesting but do bear in mind OEM copies of Vista Home retails for around 100, so you wont be getting 200 from sony I would think.

Come to think of it Ultimate OEM 32bit is only about 150, so that guy with the HP got a good deal.

I don't care what I get, as long as it's something. A XP Home OEM disc is $89, so if i get even $89 i'll be happy.

    From the article linked above:
I can understand a blogger going to this effort to make a point and get some publicity, but surely it's not worth the hassle to you if you're just wanting a refund?

    Dear god...

I do disslike the way how manufacturers "force" us into using vista and not offering their products without it, but this is too much. Ok, to prove a point its fine, but for every user to go throw this...its not worth it.

But then again, if the case is clear, why did he have to go throw all that pain and waited for months?

I'm guessing that Sony is not going to do it, since they go by their own rules.

But if it works, please do let us know.

Yea, I'm going to make a call ... but I was wondering if anyone had tried this yet because I was wondering if Sony was as bad as HP about it. Maybe it will be easier? I won't go to the lenghts that guy did, but I will try.
