Ok - so I currently have the Dell with 4GB RAM and a 200MB 7200RPM HD - I purchased a SZ 650 but have not opened yet - but am considering taking the dive.

I will switch the RAM and HD to the SZ650 if I decide to open it - so what do you all think.

What will I appreciate about the Sony or perhaps miss about the Dell - I do know of 1 item and that is the built in Cingular WWAN card in the Dell - but I can replace that in the sony with a PCMCI card or an Express Card.

Thought - help? If I keep the Sony I will ebay the Dell - I think I can get about $1300 for it and I paid $1875 for the Sony - so the upgrade cost me about $575.

Wouldn't it have been better to stick this in the "What computer I should buy" section? I mean, then you probably have a more balanced....idea

the led screen is thinner in the sony, its lighter, it has the graphics card switch for more battery, and it looks better imo.

Remember that if you replace the hard drive yourself, you will void your warranty. It's not as simple as opening a door either.

ken - can you just put the old hard drive back if u need the warranty service?

or is there like a non removable sticker that gets torn if you try to remove it or you take out the hard drive?

and DEFINITELY keep the sony, it will so much better than the dell in all aspects, especially design, you will like how much thinner it is, lighter etc. there was alot of bad reviews of the m1210

not to mention, has a faster speed, led screen, better video, etc

I'm not sure. I would like to know though because I'm thinking about buying this notebook, and I would rather switch out the hard drive myself.

OK - 4am and I just finished the hard drive - not easy but not too hard. Not for the faint of heart. Please post questions if you have them.

Ken posted the exact directions that I followed (this keyboard is very noisey compared to the dell bty) anyway the instructions are missing one item since that HD swap was done on an SZ3xx - the keybard is a bit hard to pull up due to it is not only help in place by the 2 tabs mentioned - but also there tabs ln the plastic speaker that you need to pry open - just be very careful.

Regarding the question of swaping the hard drive back for warranty work - too diffucult. After doing the change this is the hard drive that in going to be in the machine for a while. Hope that helps.
