    Hello,

I now own a Sony Vaio (surprise surprise, as it is in this part of the forum)
SZ7 and quite often I find that the port/connector for the docking station ist open.

It opens very easily - so I wonder, is this a design flaw??

Or is it meant to be like that.

I mean, if you use your computer "on the go" you're very likely to get it filled with dust and other stuff...if you don't use it, that wont really cause a problem (or will it??) but if you need it..mybe in the future...??

    Did anybody experience something similar??

    Thanks for all answers.
    All the best.

Same with mine SZ, and also with my old FZ. I think lid is very easy to move/slide that's all, not a flaw

    Thank you.
I noticced the "easy to move bit", but I couldn't tell whether that was on purpose.

Mine shifts when in it's carrying case; I almost always have to check and close it. Is yours the carbon fiber casing? The undesired behavior is probably because the (latch) designers didn't take into account the differences in manufacturing materials.

Annoying but not a huge problem unless you're laying the notebook on a rug or something. The next time I take apart the chassis I'll look into a fix for it.

I had a couple SZ's. One had a cover that was loose and moved quite a bit while the other was fairly tight.

    Hello,
    thanks for the replys.
Yes, mine is the Carbon Fibre Modell.

I would be interested in a fix for the problem as long as it doesn't mean I have to take the computer apart, as this will void my warranty, but any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a lot!

I have the SZ 750 / Carbon and the issue you have applies to me as well. I placed masking tape on mine. Try and wear down the sticky side of the tape so that it doesn't leave any residue on your laptop. Also, on one end of the masking tape - simply fold a little piece together so that if you do decide to use this port, you can easily peel off the tape so that you don't use your fingernail to dig into the casing and scuff it up. Makes sense?

    Good idea, thanks a lot.
I'll see that I'll try this as soon as I get hold of some suitable tape.

    Thank you!
