im looking at the CR series, and i've found a model that seems to fit right for what im looking for..but my question now is..does the laptop have too much of a feminine element to it? im looking at the white colorway, as it seems to be the best color coordinated, but..what does everyone else think? ok for guys?

They are pushing it that girly direction. I like the unit as well - solid keyboard, 14" WXGA, right size. I'm thinking there will soon be a glut of used unused CRs on the market at really cheap prices then just get some Hello Kitty Death stickers and splatter some red paint over the case take advantage of the mismarketed vaio product at a later date.

I'm considering the white model too... and i think its not more girly than a macbook. I'm just worried about the size, it seems bigger and thicker than other 14" notebooks. I need to make a good in-store examination, to make a decision.

if you want a guy notebook get yourself a lenovo. everything seems to be going the girly direction.... for instance boxed cars are out and rounded/curvy cars are in.

Hey, the red and blue colors are sleek, not girly at all. And yeah, if you think sleek is girly then get yourself a lenovo. Boxy + rugged is for some, but not all.

The Sony advertisements are trying to appeal to mostly females rather than males. So in a way, yes, the CR's image can be looked at as girly.

But essentially, you're paying for a computer and computers are universal. So who cares.

I think the CR is definitely one of the Sonys that do cost much more. You are paying for name brand big time with a CR. I originally ordered a Red CR. I still think that one looks very nice. I ended up canceling that and ordering a Dell 1420 since the dell offers a higher res screen whereas the Sony does not even offer, and the dell had bluetooth whereas the Sony does not even offer that either. But the final straw is that the CR still offers no discreet graphics. I ended up getting a larger HD, better graphics, bluetooth, upgraded display, and longer waranty then the CR for over 200 less then the Sony. The CR is way overpriced. And some of the reviews I have seen on the Sony rate the display as nothing special.. When looking from above the display is worse then normal viewing from that angle. The CR is no SZ. Its nice but with regular resolution and integrated graphics it should not cost more then a fully decked out Dell. Really poor value IMHO. I expect the margins will be really good on the CR, but Sony may have to drop the price to move them. I don't know if they left room to put a nvidia 8400m GS card.. If not, they cut out a large part of the market.

I agree with this. To my eye, the blue machine looks nice, the red is great and there's nothing feminine about them. That pink machine, though . . .

Does it really matter? Yeah, if you're five years old, it's girly. Otherwise, you're fine.
