I posted a different request some days ago for a link to download the previous bios version for the SZ series (R0063N0). Seems that this version has disappeared from Sony's FTP and HTTP sites worldwide. The reason I need the previous version is that the Desktop Clock is losing time after coming back from a restart, Standby or Hibernation, this problem only started after the new bios install (Bios ver. R0073N0). Is anyone having similar problems?
I have reformated and reinstalled the utilities and OS several times by the way, plus I found a thread in another forum saying to make sure that you restart the computer in stamina and speed mode after installing the new bios, this didnt work either.
Ill check again with Sony Support on Monday, no reply to my phone query on Friday, grrrr.......

That is my last option, particularly since now I've uprgraded the HD to a 100gig Seagate momentum 7200rpm, which wasn't overly easy! I'm pretty sure the bios is the culprit, just can't seem to find a single place on the planet that offers a download damnit. I can find bios version R0062N0 but Im not sure if I want to go 2 version back in the bios plus Im not sure of its compatibility with my model. By the way the new HD is fantastic, the unit is much more responsive in every sense. The 7200rpm offers a strangely soothing high frequency vibration through the palmrest as well, whether this will become annoying in the future we'll have to wait and see :)

In fact is anyone using bios version R0062N0? If so which model are you using? Im using a European model VPN SZHP1-B T2300 @ 1,66GHz. Can you actually downgrade the bios once its been flashed to a later version for that matter?

Hi, I sent R0062N0 and R0063N0 to your Hotmail account. If you didn't receive it, let me know and I'll post the files somewhere.

I used them on a European SZ1VP, so maybe they don't work with your model.

Anyway, drop me a line if you want to try these files.

Sony tech support told me it was my internal cmos battery. Maybe you messed with it during your hard drive swap?
