Do you guys like the custom icons that load for certain devices?

I do! so I made custom icons for the rest of them. You can view the crappy JPG I attached to the post OR... view it in PNG from my site

I am planning to write an article about this for my site. Most of the info on how to do this can be found at this link, but as good as it is... there is a lot of figuring out to do if you follow those instructions.

I don't. I like minimalism. The less, the better.

It is better for me, because it suits my preferences better. Thanks for noticing.

I'm guessing yours is better for you! :D

I got a good laugh when I saw yours, two opposite ends of the spectrum. The thing about Windows 7 is that it is gonna show all that stuff anyway, so it may as well look cool.

    I hear you.

It's just that I reinstall OSes often, so I try to keep things as simple as possible to "recover". I wouldn't invest a lot of effort into tweaking the OS if it's not necessary and cannot be easily backed up. Also, I have and use like 5 computers, so it'd be a nightmare trying to keep things synchronized. A change on one computer means I'd have to re-do it on 4 others, etc. >.<

I reinstall my OS quite often, this is just a bunch of files in a folder, very easy to apply again. I also have three portable computers and two servers. I don't mess with the servers that much but I just can't stop tweaking my VAIOs. Software and hardware, must be tweaked and re-tweaked, forever! I am never satisfied.

I see you use moto ht820's. You should check out the Sennheiser MM100's. Switched about 2 months ago, amazing.

Yea the Motos are great, they just keep working, they are like 5 or 6 years old now. They hold a charge for as long as ever, and they are compatible with my cowboy hat. I might get something better for when I am at my desk and just use the Motos out and about.

Just googled up the Sennheiser, those look good, cowboy hat compatible and inexpesive. Thanks for the tip!

I've read the tutorial but find that is to complicated for me so I think i will stay with the standard ones :( .By the way there is no software that does this automaticly?

I was thinking of making some software to automate this.

If I did you'd still need to make your own icon graphics... but it would do the rest, you enter description and model number, paste in hardware id's and it would spit out a file.

It wouldn't be that hard to write, but who has time for real life and computers.

I've owned pretty much every set of BT headphones out there, and nothing even comes close to the Sennheisers. The sound is so much fuller. Only complaint is they clip quite a bit at full volume on bassy material.
