    Hello,

I have an older model Vaio Fw and it recently started to freeze after startup, in both normal and safe mode. I troubleshooted and came to the conclusion that it was a hardware problem. Hard drive and Ram diagnostics both came back clean, and I was thinking of opening it up and reapplying the thermal paste and tape, but before I do that is there any other thing I should look at first. Any other way to pinpoint other hardware problems.

    Thanks

What kind of symptoms came with the freezing? If it is overheating, then the laptop should just switch off rather than freeze.
