Did you order or get a New Sony Z Model VPCZ11FHX/XQ

OK, so I compiled this list on the owners thread, but thought it would be better to have a seperate thread than clutter the already cluttered owners thread.

This model is on backorder, they are getting released very slowly (last recieved shipment into US warehouse was only 51 PCs). So to help those who are waiting determine how much longer they might have to wait I have created this list.

UPDATE: Looks like they finally got enough in to fill all the orders. Even people who recently ordered are getting them shipped out and everyone should have their PCs next week.

This is only for the VPCZ11FHX/XQ model and those who ordered in the US from SonyStyle.

Please tell me any corrections or additions for this list. I am not effected by this, but there was so many posts about this in the owners thread and people weren't sure if they were being sent in order, I decided to keep track of it. I am a very anal and organized individual, so it is in my nature to do this stuff

 

I am fairly certain I am ordering later today. I have decided this is the machine I want to have long-term.

Original "estimated ship date": 3/16

I called them up last week and they said that it won't ship until 3/30. They also claimed that the useless Sonystyle website will not update until the system is ready to ship

Still listed on Sonystyle as 3/16 ship date...

 

My original order was on 2/25. My ship date is now 3/31

 

I noticed that they do not seem to charge credit card immediately. Anyone knows when it is charged? When they start building? When they are ready to ship?

It could be an additional indicator of the progress.

 

Anyone buy the Z Signature from an actual Brick and Mortar SonyStyle Store in the US?

you won't get charged until the Vaio has left the building on the carrier (in my case FedEx.) Basically, they must batch invoice and they can't process them until the delivery document is complete.

In my case, the Z was shipped yesterday afternoon. They charged my CC in the middle of the night after that.

 

My new Z hasn't shipped yet but on a brighter note, I do get to play around with an extended battery, a privacy filter and a dock! Sweet! (NOT!)

 

Also, they don't charge your CC until the ENTIRE order is completed. I had purchased some accessories worth around $500 with the Z. They've already shipped all the accessories but still haven't charged my CC.

 

My local store didn't even have a display model of the either of the signature models. The guy said they would eventually get them in, but he wasn't sure when. Of course he was also convinced that you could get a quad processor by doing a CTO So the guy was not that knowledgable.

 

you know, when you consider that they don't seem to get enough produced in those batches to even fulfill the complete backorder list right now, it will probably be a while before any of them shows up in the brick and mortar stores. Look at it this way: it can't even stay on the shelves on the sonystyle.com store

Very True Treo I was *Hoping* that by some miracle, they MAY have actually preshipped a few of 'em to their stores prior to release but you're right!

 

Ahh, good to know. Thanks. They did charge me immediately previously when I was ordering from SonyStyle. Guess, it's different when product is constantly on backorder.

 

Just got off the phone with sony style and they told me it will be ready to ship sometime in april but they couldn't give me an exact date.

It is funny, I saw your post on the main board and updated my file on UltaEdit, just forgot to copy it here. There are a bunch of updates on the first post. It will be interesting to see how much time between you guys (2/8 & 2/9) and the ones that ordered at the end of feb.

 

btw, called my local Sonystyle store and they said they should be getting some in next Wednesday or Friday... so it might be possible that I'll end up buying it at a retail store before my month-old order actually ships ~.~

Which SonyStyle store is yours?

The closest one to Hartford is in Delaware. To be perfectly honest, if the one in Rohoboth Beach has them in stock at all, I will take a day and drive there. Dead serious. Beats the weeks of waiting, you know?

Besides, it's only five hours to get there. I like driving, and I'd see some areas of Jersey I've yet to see. It isn't the most ideal scenario, but if they had it in stock, I'd ask them to hold one and get on the road. If I had nothing on Saturday or Sunday...well... ; )

Not saying! I mean, I don't want someone to rush in there before I can and grab one and buy out their stock!

Ok, just kidding... the one I called was in Stanford, CA... I dropped in last Sunday to take a look at their lower-end display models to make sure that I like the case and design. I talked to the sales rep and he was under the impression that they are shipping the signature series out slowly to the stores. They've been selling out of the other prebuild models as soon as they get them in.

I guess I could call up the big one in San Francisco, but that's a 45 minute drive away for me.

That's exactly why I started calling! I was expecting mine last week and this waiting is getting frustrating At least I don't have any trips scheduled until May...

 

I have to return my HP Envy...a backordered Sig Z means I'd have to re-inherit my Dell SXPS16 from my girlfriend (I <3 my Dell, but that's not fair to my girlfriend...I'd need it for grad school.)

So...what's a ten-hour round trip, really?

Hi, I'm new here. I was googling for reviews of this Vaio when I came across this thread and thought I'd add my order to your list to make the sample more accurate

I ordered on March 24, 2010 and the site said it would ship on 3/31 at that time. I woke up today (3/25/2010) to find that my laptop has an estimated shipping date of 3/26/2010.

The extra battery I ordered with it shipped today, so I am desperately hoping the laptop also went out today and they just haven't updated the system yet...otherwise I'll be looking forward to it Monday or Tuesday I suppose.

I am sad...may be mad today...trying to be positive now

My status changed to ready to be shipped. I was over the moon. Next min, I got an email from sony that my order is cancelled. the no didn't match. I called sonystyle again and they gave me 20% off(900$) for 3600$.

Don't know about the new shipping date but the discount is not able to take away my pain

 

Tragically, my vaio is now marked "ready for shipment" but they changed the shipment date to next Monday. Laaaaaame.

edit: I called Sonystyle to ask what's up (and if they could push my order today with Saturday delivery) and they said it can't be edited, which I guess means it's almost ready. But even though the order status says "Ready to ship", the woman on the phone seemed to think they are out of stock.

That "Ready to ship" better not actually mean "backordered indefinitely", particularly since they already charged the full price to my Visa.

 

I've been holding off posting since I had ordered only 3 days ago on March 23. On the 24th, my status changed to "Ready to be shipped" with an estimated shipping date of March 25. This morning, when there was no change, I assumed a long wait. But when I checked again 5 minutes ago, the status was changed to shipped! No tracking number, however, and credit card has yet to be charged.

Edit: Tracking number given, but not yet recognized at the fedex site.

Thanks. LucasArts had such a great spread of games during that time period, and in general the industry itself was on fire. Truly a golden age of gaming.

 

My status has just changed to "ready for shipment", and my estimated shipping date is now 3/29. Hopefully, they will come through!

 

Actually, it seems like now, since the Z is being made en masse (I was told they were not available in early February), that these orders will now be filled regularly.

If so, this is good news.

 

Slight update... my status finally changed today from "Shipping Update" to "Processing" with an estimated ship date of 3/31.

The customer service rep bumped me up to expedited 1-2 business days, so hopefully I'll get mine next week

 

My order, which was said to be shipped on 3/29, has apparently shipped as of 3:30pm PST on 3/26! The Fedex tracking number doesn't work yet but here's hoping it will arrive Monday

edit: confirmed for Monday delivery, though I might try to do a saturday pickup if it's close enough by tomorrow!

Does this model have problems with battery drain? I am kind of nervous about it, since I heard that rumor AFTER ordering...

edit: Upon further investigation, it appears he might be thinking of the CW.

I don't think I need to continue updating this, since I believe everyone is going to be getting their PCs between tomorrow and next Friday. Looks like they finally got enough in to fill all their orders.

 

No Fedex pickup for me today so I will be receiving it Monday. Woot!

May I know how did you get the 20% off from sony style store?
I couldn't find any promotion like 20% off.
The only promotion for signature Z is only 7% off student discount.

 

Fedex hasn't sent the laptop to my depot yet, so tomorrow it is.

I did ask them to keep it at the depot and call me when it is ready. This is easier for me so I can run out from the office and not wait at home.

I asked repeatedly about the "no pickups, no exceptions" sticker. They tell me that my shipment isn't setup this way. Guess I'll know tomorrow.

 

You can call the reps at sonystyle and request for discount. Usually they give 10% off without any add ons. If you r lucky, they give you 15% or with some acc. If they mess up your order they give you 20%
