    Vista vs XP
    Higher DVD writing speeds
    120GB vs 100GB HDD

    That's about it.

I hadn't heard about the Higher DVD writing speeds and extra capacity HD. That's good news. From what I'd heard before this it was merely a Vista refresh. This is better.

Its minor spec bumps that will add up to maybe $50 in overall value increase. Almost irrelevant imo.
The only thing that warrants the switch from 3xx to 4xx is the preinstalled Vista operating system.
I would expect an SZ5xx with Santa Rosa in April or May, only a couple of months after the 4xx.

I really like higher writing speeds because it was strange to see that non-premium models have better DVD drives than premium ones.

That's true, non-premium is more powerful in terms of DVD and screen.

it may be that the premiums have a lighter and thus less powerful drive.
The screens on the premium models are far superior. They are thinner and lighter, brighter and crisper, and use less power because of the LED backlight.

If I didn't get you wrong, you're saying that the non-premium screens are more powerful?

Sorry, premium's screen is brighter.....but non-premium's screen frame looks more powerful.

you're using powerful in the wrong context.

premium screen is brighter, but thinner and more fragile, flexes a lot.

non premium screen seems a lot more sturdy
