hi, i have been using a vaio t-series (VGN-T37GP) for the last 2.5 years which went kaput on me this week. i realised that there is a VGN-TX37GP that appears to have higher specs than the one i had. so i'm curious... what's the difference between the T and TX series of vaio or is it just that the TX series is an upgraded, better series? cheers![]()

If you did not know, the TX series has also been replaced by the TZ series.
Anyways, here are the differences between those models.
- 11.1" WXGA (1366x768) vs 10.6" WXGA (1280x768).
- LED-backlit screen in TX (first notebook to do so), so thinner screen, brighter, more vivid picture.
- TX has AV Mode to play media without booting up to Windows.
- TX has noticeably more battery life.
- TX has newer processor and chipset, more performance.
It is overall an improvement of course over the T series. The entire series is called Vaio "Type T" series which is made up of the Vaio TR, T, TX and now TZ series.
Here's a picture comparing both of them.

What are the differences between the TX and TZ?

thanks rahulnirmal for the detailed explanation and pic
yea i'll like to know the difference between the TX and TZ too -
Differences between TX and TZ series.
- Core Solo TX models have better battery life than TZ series. Not sure about older Pentium M TX models though.
- TZ is slighter larger than TX in dimensions but weights less and is thinner.
- Almost all TZ models have webcam, not TX.
- TZ has option for 2.5" HDD in place of DVD drive, no TX.
- TZ has Expresscard slot, TX has older PC Card Slot
- WWAN antenna sticks out on TX but integrated in TZ
- TX has soldered ram and one ram slot for up to 2.5gb ram. TZ has just one ram slot for up to 2gb ram.
- Same 11.1" WXGA screen but TZ has better LED-backlighting, brighter screen and colors are more accurate than TX. You can see the difference in the pics below. In the first picture, TZ is on the right and second picture, on the left.

Another major difference between the TZ and TX is the keyboard. I believe this is a very important difference because typing is synonymous with using a laptop, and comfortability is vital. The keys on the TZ are all separated from each other, which makes typing relatively easier, considering the size of the TZ. Since each individual key has some space around it, the keys are not cramped together, like the Asus Eee keyboard (which is INCREDIBLY hard to type on).

I like the keyboard on both models a lot but the TZ's does edge out because of what you stated Gazelle.
The one thing I like about the TX's keyboard is that it has a smooth finish, unlike the TZ's which is matte (like most laptops). So the TZ's keys get worn down and smooth after a while of use (mine has) but the TX's still looks brand new even a year later.
No biggie but I still liked that anyways.
