If you click the above link to CompUSA, there are 4 differently numbered SZ: 230, 260, 120, 160.

They all have very similar specifications and yet they vary a great deal in price (from $1499 to $2299). I understand that the 260 has the carbon fiber and weighs 3.7lbs instead of 4.1lbs. However, the 160 is also carbon fiber and weighs 3.7lbs, but this one is $700 less expensive!

Also, the 120 and the 230 have the same body frame too. The only differences are that the 230 has a 8x DVD+/- and a 20gb larger hard drive, for $350 more.

Whats up with these crazy price differences with these different models...I dont understand why the 260 is $700 more than the 160 and the 230 is $350 more than the 120?

    Thanks

The SZ1XX series of notebooks are the older revision and no longer produced, thus the price drop. Nothing wrong with them, they are just trying to clear the channels of old stock. They're still good notebooks, they're just last generation, although very similar to the SZ2XX series as you already pointed out. For a $700 difference I wouldn't hesitate to purchase an SZ160.

I'd get that SZ160 in a heartbeat. But it isn't available.
