When I installed XP on my SZ680 the Nvidia driver allowed me to tweak 'digital vibrance'. Instantly the LED display looked much better.

Now I have installed Vista, I can still see the digital vibrance setting, but I can not modify it.

Does anyone know what is going on? and what I can do?

Just tried changing them here and same problem, just tried installing the modded drivers from laptopvideo2go.com but those don't seem to change anything.

Btw Phil (or anybody else), is it necessary to install both the Intel Graphics Driver AND the Nvidia one? Or is one fine, and if so which one?

And do you reckon it is better to leave the old Nvidia installer that is also still listed under the Sony e-support section for the SZ680 series on their site?

Here the display seems to work fine whichever I install...though the screen does tend to have a flicker when starting up, just before the logon screen as once Windows is loaded...not sure which of the drivers is causing this...

Small update, those modded drivers from laptopvideo2go also don't seem to work when you uninstall the original nvidia drivers which come with the vaio, (niether version 165.01 (April 12th) nor 163.44 (dated August 17th) ).

Ah and neither do the drivers from nvidia.com but I figure most'll already know that :)

Did you remember to clean your old drivers, and then download both the LaptopVideo2Go driver and the modified INF file (and replace the original INF file in your extracted driver folder with the modded one?)

Yeps I think so...Just uninstalled the Nvidia drivers from the Control Panel...and also tried updating the now 'standard video adapter' in Device Manager with the modded INF but no luck...did you get this to work?

It's weird though because Digital vibrance can be set in XP, and not in Vista.
No matter what driver I take, forceware or sony driver.

The LED looks so much better with dig.vibrance set higher. Maybe I'll just go back to XP.

Are you using the 'have disc' method?

IE, you select 'show me a list of drivers on my pc,' then after it does that, in the bottom right corner you select 'have disc' and browse for your modified inf file.

I just installed Nvidia forceware from Laptop2go under Vista. It works fine, except for the digital vibrance.

I did not use 'have disc method'. Is that important?

So no one has this digital vibrance working? and everyone is chilled about it?

Hard to believe because the screen quality is not that impressive without it imo. the screenquality on my previous TZ and on my monitor are better. The digital vibrance setting improves it a lot.

I guess is because nobody's seen the difference. With the default Sony software it is not possible to change the setting either so people don't know what they're missing. Even I haven't seen the effects of digital vibrance adjusting yet...maybe this is something we could complain to Sony about.

Hurray for Donovan36! The 163.44 Vista drivers allow me to tweak Digital Vibrance.

Note that the latest v163.67 Vista drivers did not!
