The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Dilemma - Sony FZ or Dell Inspiron 1520!

    The LED backlit notebook displays are getting rave reviews (MacBook Pro; Asus Model; Dell 1330) so I think a major display hump is at hand for notebooks. There will still be some "shifting" but the "blue haze" of the flourescent back lighting goes away. Rumors are even the MacBook will get an LED. Right now though Apple can't keep the MacBookPro LED orders filled.

    There's no reason not to manufacture notebooks with LEDs in the future...the screen is just and bright, if not brighter, and uses less power to do it.

    So now that I will be recieving my laptop in approx. 5-6 days, I'll need to maximize performance:

    I will be doing a clean install following the intricate instructions given by a fellow forum member.

    Is there anything else I should do to increase performance (get rid of useless things)?

    Is there anyway to maximize the speed from a router, using wifi on my inspiron made my internet download speed really slow?
