    Hi all,

I am in the market for an ultraportable from 6 months now. Since i saw the TX27N i really fall in love with the design of this laptop. But the single core and the slow hard drive make me think some more...Now the new TZ has core 2 duo and also a SSD as alternative to the 1.8" HD.
But i really like more TX as design and chassis. Will TZ of the US will have the connectivity of TX (Cingular or Edge)?
    Some advices are welcome.

    Thanks.

As you said the big difference is dual core of TZ and also the possibility to put a faster hard drive than the 4200rpm.
Depends what you are going to do with it. Me too i was quite convinced for the TX but a lot reviews were saying that the HD is slow and with Vista as OS is not going at all.
You are going that you are going to spend around $2k why dont take the newest model with better specs?
Now, if you like more the TXN and you need it for simple office work and surfing...then go for TX.

You can always replace the 1.8" drive in the TX with a SSD, it won't be easy as upgrading the HDD in most laptops but its possible, it will also be hard to upgrade/replace the HDD in the TZ as well. The TX is not a bad choice, I haven't tried one with Vista despite all the bad news I hear of it with Vista. You can replace it with XP though and for my uses at least, I don't notice the 4200 rpm drive, I must be crazy or something.
And have you looked at other similar notebooks like the Fujitsus and Asus for instance?

I like my TXN15P and the hard drive is actually really simple to replace, but there are not many options out there for a 1.8" hard drive. The TZ has a choice of a faster hard drive, but you loose optical. Just read the reviews. It should help you decide.

Where/how did you get the guide to opening up the TX and getting access to the hard drive?

Not necessarily you loose the optical in the TZ. There is a combination 32GB and optical drive.

Thanks for your response rahulnirmal. Yes TX with SSD is a dream :) For my usual work i really think that TX is more than ok. I will just wait little more so the prices go down with the arrival of TZ.
