Hello, first time posting here. I have a Sony VPCEA36FM. The screen on it cracked so I ordered a replacement LED Screen. I installed the replacement screen. The first time I powered it up the colors were inverted. The sonly logo that pops up was black and the rest of the screen was white. So I shut down the laptop reseated the connector powered it back on and nothing. I figured the replacement screen was a dud. So then I got that one replaced. Once I received the replacement I installed it. Now its just dim. I can see everything but the backlight is not powering on.
I have done some research and apparantly there is a fuse that could possibly be blown out on it. I've located the fuse I believe. I tested it with a multimeter and Iam not getting any continuity so it appears it could be bad. Iam not sure, it doesnt appear to be blown but this is my first time dealing with an issue like this.
Ive taken a picture of the board and fuse in question. Any thoughts or other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't seen any external indication when a SMD fuse has blown, the only sure way is measuring. -
Would testing for continuity be the best way to test a fuse like this?

I have the same laptop at our shop, new screen, no video. We tested for continuity and nothing, bridged and worked. Not sure how safe this is, but it works.

As to this stage ...I would just Bridge it ...rather going through finding the right fuse and soldering .... you might mess up the board anyway ...IMHO ..!!

I had a similar experience with my VPCSB when changing out the screen. Bridged the fuse and it's working again.
