My FE11H (1.66 Core Duo) drops its CPU speed to 997Mhz (1Ghz) frequently even i've plugged it into the wall and set the battery profile to desktop / viao optimized...

is there a way i can force the cpu runs at full speed?

For some laptops it can be disabled in the Bios, but if it drops CPU speed anyways this may point to frequent heat issues.

Did you try going into power options and setting it to Home/Office? Or download NHC and set it to max performance?

I assume NHC doesn't support dual core chip yet

Sonys Vaio control centre: Vaio power management viewer: advanced: then make sure the cpu is set to performance: you might want to set the fan to level 5 as well

if you set your profile to always on it should force it to run at the highest speedstep,

click your power icon in the taskbar, click always on, press (windows key + pause break) to go to your system properties and it will tell you your current processor speed

thanks circa86, yest in system profile it always shows 1.66

but CPU-Z shows the frequency is jumping high and low...

i've set the profile to highest as you can see in my attached picture above. :p

so sad i think that's the way speed step is...

when i set my N6210 to max battery or portable/laptop my cpu speed in system profile will drop to 780 mhz or so, it lists the current procesor speed right before showing how much ram is installed.

attached is a photo showing my CPU (P-M 750 1.86ghz) at 782mhz while in the Max batter profile, if it is set to always on this will always be at 1.86 ghz

maybe it is different with the Core Duo's though, or maybe CPU-Z is not working correctly with the Core Duo? not sure, but i'm sure there is a way to keep it at the max setting
