Is it possible to disable the Vaio VGN-Z590 notebooks' mouse pad surface when an external mouse is connected to it?

The reason - unfortunately, when typing, very often my fingers touch the mouse pad and move the cursor randomly - this causes a real burden when typing.

    Thanks!

It is a good question. I have been interested in this as well. With my Dell Synaptic pad, I can have it automatically turn off when the computer detects there is a USB mouse connected. I can't find something similar for the Z's Alps.

i think the dell alps driver, in the "Added functionality for Vaio Z Touchpad. Working now!" thread had a feature in the mouse settings that allowed you to disable the touchpad if an external mouse was connected. I installed the driver and i remember seeing something like that but i don't have my laptop with me to check.

Is it possible to do this automatically? My old Dell can auto disable mouse pad when I plug in USB mouse :)

Negative. Once you uncheck it, your trackpad no longer works, even without a mouse plugged in.

You can have this auomatic disable option if you use Dell Alps Gesture driver, which works fine on Sony Z.
