Everytime I download a file and I put it in a specifc place once it's downloaded I go to the place where I saved it. It's not there?
Has anyone had this problem, I'm using Window Vista Business, but I just can't seem to find where they files go for my download.

Is this something to do with Window Vista???? advice would be appreciated thanks.

Try doing a search for that filename in temporary internet folders, including hidden files. Can you find anything?

I haven't used Vista so this may be useless, but if the search function's the same as XP's:

Click on: Start>Search>All Files And Folders.

Leave the top two boxes blank.

Set the "look in" box to "Local Disk (C)"

Click on "when was it modifed".

    Choose: "Specify dates".

Then change the dropdown box underneath that says "modifed date" so that it reads "created date".

By default, today's date will be set below the box.

    Click search.

The results will show all files created in the past 24 hours (downloading a file counts as creating it, so far as Windows is concerned), so you should see your downloads (and their location on the hard drive) in the list of search results.

    Good luck! :)

Chesk to make sure that your folder is showing all file types. Often times if you are not carefull, certain filetypes will be hidden.

Thank you all for your advice, I have done all of those things that you have suggested and still no files, I think it may have something to do with window vista, Window Vista is such a headache has completely ruin my laptop, you would think an upgrade would be so simple that you would expect it to work straight away but instead it ruins your laptop I don't know if other people had theirs working okay? I have sz260p and when I did the upgrade it completely wiped out my computer settings etc...and now it thinks my laptop is a desktop I go and set it straight and it won't recognize it at all...go figure??? The upgrade also wiped out other stuff, I go to do the sony webpage and click on some special tool and it says my laptop is not recognize as a sony vaio. What a waste of my time, oh well, that's life....going back to XP Professional......Thanks all for trying to help much appreciated :)

Everyone who did an upgrade from XP->Vista said the process and the result were both miserable. Always start fresh!

try to download it with a download manager, for example Free download manager, than try to access it through download manager by double click on the file name, see if it works

I have this problem as well. This occurs when I use Windows Vista. I downloaded some files from mIRC. Once the files have been downloaded, you cannot see them, but the folder to which you saved the downloaded files will be correct. The only way you can retrieve these files is to use something like an ISO creater. I used UltraISO to copy the files to My Documents. Then copy the files to the intended destination.

Anyone know why Windows Vista acts like that?
