Disassembling a PCG-Z1 Series to Get at the Hard Drive

Funny how, when you're looking for something, you cannot find it, then, when you've finally nutted it out yourself and are just about to win big plaudits by posting a self-written how-to, you find exactly what you were looking for.

Well, last year I spend countless hours looking for a good how-to on cracking open my VAIO Z1A in order to replace the hdd (which sony says, flatly, cannot be replaced - the subtext of course being, but if you send it in and pay us $$, it'll magically get replaced anyhow ).

Now that I've gotten the opening-up bit down pat (could probably do it blind-fold by now), I was going to write up a nice little how-to with diagrams, when I did a last-minute off-hand google, and guess what I found - the how-to I'd been fruitlessly searching for months ago.

At any rate, now that I've almost bored you to tears, I thought that I'd at least post up a link to the how-to I've discovered, so that the knowledge gets propagated. In case the link goes dead at some point, please pm me, and I'll put together my own how-to to replace it (no pretty digi-pix, unfortunately, just Paint drawings ).
