Funny how, when you're looking for something, you cannot find it, then, when you've finally nutted it out yourself and are just about to win big plaudits by posting a self-written how-to, you find exactly what you were looking for.
Well, last year I spend countless hours looking for a good how-to on cracking open my VAIO Z1A in order to replace the hdd (which sony says, flatly, cannot be replaced - the subtext of course being, but if you send it in and pay us $$, it'll magically get replaced anyhow).
Now that I've gotten the opening-up bit down pat (could probably do it blind-fold by now), I was going to write up a nice little how-to with diagrams, when I did a last-minute off-hand google, and guess what I found - the how-to I'd been fruitlessly searching for months ago.
At any rate, now that I've almost bored you to tears, I thought that I'd at least post up a link to the how-to I've discovered, so that the knowledge gets propagated. In case the link goes dead at some point, please pm me, and I'll put together my own how-to to replace it (no pretty digi-pix, unfortunately, just Paint drawings).
Here's the link: http://vaioz.com/opening.html
