OK, i have had 2 problems with my Z for a while and im fed up because its out of warranty and sony will not fix it.
1. The Right hinge i believed is messed up so it does not close correctly. Due to this the right side of the lcd bezel has become cracked on the bottom right i believe because of the tension. (check the pictures). I have to keep a clip on the right bottom side to hold the LCD in place.
2. The notebook is really really hot. Especially using the nvidia. When running any 3d game it takes less than 10 minutes for the temps to get ridiculous on the cpu and gpu. It just turns off when it gets to like 103 or something. Im not sure if its the gpu or cpu but i think they share the same copper pipe for heat. Im going to put arctic silver on both of the chips if i can and clean everything out really good.
My main issue is the hinge. Im not even sure if it is repairable. Does anyone have any experience with this? If it isnt repairable where and how should I go about getting a new Hingle and LCD bezel.

Look at your photo, right hinge is repairable.
First, you need to remove 2 copper screw bases which they should be in 2 holes of lid cover without damage them. You can use a small plyer to hold it while using a small screw driver to remove 2 screws.
After you remove them, put them back to its hole with Loctite glue. Use a small screw driver, push it into the hole while turn it clockwise direction until it flush to the hole. By doing this, it will tight to the hole.
You can wait for a while for the glue drying and put the LCD hinge back and screw it.
Hope these helps. -
1. It is repairable - definitely. the parts can be ordered via a computer repair shop. they can factory deliver it. word of warning - the parts are extremely expensive. solution - go onto ebay. look for sony z parts that are being sold. ask them if they can see you the bezel / frame / hinge... etc.
to get the specific part number / picture, just download the z service manul online. - google - it. technically, the service manul is only for repair shops only.
2. clean out your fan / heatsink / filter. mine was clogged only after 8 months surprisingly. then again, i play 3d video games a lot. you MUST remove the factory bonding material / paste. it really, really sucks. the quality is horrible. i just cleaned everything - alcohol wiped all the cpu / gpu / chip contacts, and applied new paste. the laptop runs a lot better now. it still heats up, but the heat dissapates really quickly. believe it or not, i have an objective improvement in FPS!!!
word of advice - before cleaning the cpu / sink... get the service manual first and commit it to memory. it was like brain surgery trying to pry this thing apart and to keep track of all the different slots / hinges / screws...etc. the entire process took me about 4 hours. why? apart from cleaning out the wine that i spilled onto my laptop - the cooling system / cpu is actually the last thing to take out of the laptop - meaning, it's imbedded really, really deep within the system. the cpu is actually below the motherboard.
by the way, clip your nails, or at least, clean them. -
