    Hey guys,

Those of you that are seasoned Sony watchers, I was wondering if we should expect any discounts on the new Vaios, given "Back to School" is coming soon?

I don't know if I should wait a month or two to buy my FW... I can definitely say that "$300 off for back to school" on their site is not cutting it.

    Thanks!

lol, they make you to purchase insurance and accessories... to get that $300 off. I rather get the laptop itself for cheaper.

    If you can wait, wait.

There will be a lot of competition in the retail channel so prices will gradually go down a bit.

Prices in other webshops are usually below Sonystyle prices.

Did anyone spot some FW in other webshops?

It's too early for the FW but if you compare some prices of SZ7 you will find out.

The price difference for a Z is $100 now. ( link) But since that isn't in stock the competition has not really started.

From what I've heard in a thread on this forum, if you order by phone from sonystyle you can ask for a $100 discount and if you're smart about it, you'll get it

    Example: VGN-SZ750N/C

    Sonystyle price $1899,-
    ACS@store price $1457,-
    Price difference $442,-

But since this a model that will be dicontinued it's not totally fair. I think common price difference with Sonystyle will be $100 - $200.

I have no doubt that prices will be cheaper at other locations, be it online or B&M stores.

call sony. get a male rep on the phone. if you're a girl beg and say

    "pretty pretty please mister"

if he still phails to give it to you say

    "i hate you. you're mean."

and you will probably get the discount.

Did the sales person say either or? in that case i would have just gotten the $100 discount instead of getting the extended warranty.

If you buy it with the right type of credit card you get extended warranty from your credit card company.

all American Express cards give you an extra year on whatever warranty you get with the manufacturer. Mastercard/Visa platinum, gold, and other higher end cards give you an extra yr with the original warranty(1 yr warranty)

you contact american express. and they handle the rest pretty much as long as damages don't total over 10,000 per case per account and 50,000 per calendar yr per account. Amex actually has a very nice product assurance department, claims aren't very bothersome to file with them.

Still waiting for my Amex card to get here so I can order my FW.

there a forum on the buying a laptop guide dedicated to credit card assurance programs. the writer also thought that Amex had the best service out of the cards for claims.

    Hi there,

With any Notebooks including Sony if they product is classified as End of life product, the retailers tend to have it discoutned heavily to clear the store.
