I've heard around that from certain companies, if you know who to call, you can get a nice discount. The SA is just out of my price range and I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get a couple hundred knocked off. Or maybe of an upcoming promotion? I'd really like to pull the trigger on this but I can't bring myself to at its current price.

I live in the UK and in the past with Sony i've managed to get a 5% discount on the phone from them but you do have to kind of push for it a bit. I'm also not sure if they're still doing this now but up until last year i did still read of people doing this in the UK anyway

u can get a 10% discount if you register in the "Education Store" on sony website as a student, guardian, or parent of a student. no college email required.
-
I had been told this before, and when I try to follow through with it (that is go as far as I can without actually inputting my credit card info) no discount is applied.
-
I'm pretty sure discount will apply at the final check out. If you ordered Sony's before without student discount, make sure to create new account with your school attached.
I just ordered SA but I received only 5%. -
For this student discount to applied though you must buy an extended service plan to protect your purchase, which is a yes or no for some people.
In regards to the 5% discount, I called them over the phone, and cried a little bit about HP giving Xbox 360's AND student discount (maybe true, maybe not) and she offered the 5% immediately. -
I just chat with the sales rep., I ask her directly whether she can gives me discount on SA
I got 5% off, although I haven't pull the trigger yet.
Contemplating on getting SA or Thinkpad X1. I got 200USD off for the thinkpad. Confused which one should I buy

If I order by phone, can I still get them to ship it to a freight forwarder?
I'm an international student going to USA for studies soon, and I have an overseas freight-forwarding address.
Looking to get the 10% student discount and the 5% "call" discount =P -
Well, just keep in mind that you wouldn't get the 5% discount since you already got the 10% discount. It's not allowed in the system. That's what the sales rep. told me.
But what you can do is, ask the sales rep. to increase the promotional discount so you can get the warranty for "free".
Since I take the warranty ($180), 10% of the total is around $160. After bargaining, I got them to increase the $160 off to $180. So basically got the warranty for free. It's a good bargain for me, so that's why I took the warranty rather than the 5% off. -
Aah okay I see how it works now.
I'm just going to wait till tomorrow to see if there's a weekly deal for the Vaio SA, then i'm going straight to get myself one!

If anyone is still wondering, in UK, there is no student discount. I ordered a custom SA 2 days ago and at 1st the sales person refused any discount as I was getting free memory upgrade. I didnt place the order and then rang back, the sales person this time was bit rluctant, but when I said that I am willing to order now, he gave me 5% off.

Anyone purchasing a CTO Vaio in the UK can get an 8% discount on cost by ordering through Quidco - Sony Voucher Codes, Cashback & Discount Codes | Quidco
-
Thanks Rated, I didnt know about Quidco. For future reference, do you still get the free memory upgrade and free express shipping on top of the 8% discount
-
How do you put the voucher in, I have just registered with Quidco and it sent me to the Sony store, i'm now on checkout and there's a box for vouchers but I cannot see the voucher code anywhere?
Discounts on SA?
