^ a few questions about the modded drivers
1 - Do these drivers still utilize the hard switch on the keyboard (stamina/speed)?
2 - If I am having problems with the driver is there anyway to uninstall them?...(im pretty sure you can just uninstall them from device manager im just making sure...)
3 - Will there ever be an upgrade to the integrated graphics if a new update rolls out?
//4 - Non related to the drivers but I was wondering if anyone plays battlefield 3 other than me on their sony vaio sa/sb with the ati 6630m chip also what frames are you getting with the setting posted... thanks!!!![]()

2) Device manager (+ DriverSweeeper to completely uninstalling drivers, it's especially required to delete all AMD/ATI files)
3) I don't know. I'm currently using Intel 2559 drivers. Modded .inf file was somewhere in this thread. -

[ igdlh64.inf] But this modified .inf file will for sure work with 2559. You just have to replace original file with this one.
(Remember to install all graphic cards drivers in SPEED mode). -
Hello all, I was curious, would this work with a Vaio SE? It seems to be the 15.5" version of the SA/SB/SC so I was hoping it could help.
I am specifically looking for a way to undo what appears to be disabled by Sony and that is the "Rotate Screen" option. The option is missing and no amount of googling the problem has helped me so far.
I don't even know if this would enable rotation, do any of you have that option after you install these drivers?
Thanks in advance. -
Well, the Intel drivers (stock) still allow for rotation.
-
There is an option to rotate in "Control Panel > Screen Resolution > Advanced Settings > Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel"
But when I select the option to "Rotate 90 Degrees", it ignores it and goes back to Normal.
Kind of annoying because I have an external monitor that can swivel and I planned to use it for tall documents in photoshop.
**Update** I installed all the drivers, no problems and the Rotate featured returned in the Intel Graphic Properties box. It still ignores any attempt to rotate the screen. -
This laptop is driving me crazy... i just bought a vaio SA, in canada, and the aero is lagging a lot in speed mode. But the weirdest thing is, i turn on the computer, in speed mode, and the aero lags, then i change the theme to basic, and then to one with aero enabled, and everything runs smoothly...
I tried everything, all the drivers you can imagine, and even formatting the computer, and doing a full restore, everything... and nothin solves my problem :/ -
Hi all together!
I am also a proud owner of a vaio SA and as well had problems with my graphics after doing a clean install. I now got it to work using this guidance but I stopped at the last step as everything now works fine (minecraft doesn't crash etc) and when I want to install that new intel driver, it says that it is older the one i have and i wonder were exactly the advantage is I have from using this custom driver? does it just make the Intel graphics faster or.. because that is likely to be followed by reduces battery time, which i'd like to keep^^
Thanks,
Xaser -
I've not tried any drivers yet on the first post, did you try one of them + any luck?
If you start your computer in Stamina mode, does Aero lag aswell? And if you start in Stamina, and then switch to speed, does it lag then?
Must be something to do with these settings, I'll look around for something when I'm back from work, I really want this fixed.
Restarting the UxSms service helps too, but this is simular to the "switch to basic and then to Aero" thingy..
I've "fixed" this using a start up / logon script via the Task Scheduler containing (you need to run this as administrator):
NET STOP UXSMS
NET START UXSMS
This disables Aero and then re-enables Aero via CMD, but I want a decent solution for this. -
I did some testing over the weekend with drivers and certain combinations which may be useful for some people with weird graphical problems.
First, install the Sony base graphics driver (not the update).
Second, install the Sony update graphics driver (should bring AMD drivers to 11.9).
Thirdly, install latest AMD mobile drivers (currently 11.12).
DO NOT install the 2509 modded drivers on top of these as they overwrite some settings which I've noticed some performance drop.
With the 2509 installed I would get 20fps in Civ 5, but using the aforementioned method, I would hit 30fps. Haven't got a reasonable explanation yet because haven't got time to sit down and see what was changed. -
Does anyone know if applying these alternative drivers will allow me to adjust screen orientation? It seems as though Sony have disabled screen rotation completely which is very annoying. I run dual monitors and I would like to have one in portrait orientation instead of landscape.
I have toyed around with registry settings with no success. It has been suggested to me that I blow away the graphics drivers altogether and just install the standard (non-Sony) drivers for one of the cards (I never switch between them anyway).
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Do these drivers fix the issue? Thanks in advance. -
If you're using the generic AMD drivers, then I don't see why not. Maybe it's inside the windows resolutions page that you can rotate too.

Is Sony going to release a legitimate Graphics driver update anytime soon?...
-
Well, since launch, they have made at least two
Admittedly, that's once every 3-4 months, but that's still better than expected from Sony

Tried upgrading to 12.1, green screen in flash and no video at all for local content (black screen, audio plays fine.)
I had been on 11.10 for a while and while it seemed to work better for gaming, it ended up messing up trying to play local content. (inverted color in videos, audio plays fine) Tried 11.11-11.11c but same issue.
Back on 11.9 (or whatever the latest stock update is.)
I'm wondering if any of you on anything newer than 11.9 are having any issues. -
the green screen seems to be a WHQL issue. Every preview/beta driver i've tried has a green screen, but every WHQL driver release (incl the latest 12.1) has been good for me.
-
Been having display driver crashes/BSODs from Photoshop/Minecraft since I got the laptop... going to try out installing the 11.12 drivers and see if it fixes the issue.
I'm able to trigger a BSOD within a minute of launching either program if I do certain things, so it should be easy to test if these drivers give better stability. I turned off 3D acceleration in Photoshop and it runs fine, but not being able to run Minecraft annoys me.
That being said I can report that Diablo 3 Beta (highest settings @ 1920*1200) and StarCraft 2 (mid/high) run absolutely gorgeously on this laptop. I had one BSOD with Diablo 3, but that's out of a few hundred hours of playing. -
Hey, so I noticed in Dxdiag.exe that the amd 6630m has only 710MB of vram, thats a big gap from 1gb vram (I know its not going to be exactly 1000MB but maybe 800MB perhaps?). I was thinking maybe its just my computer, id like to hear others memory count from the Dxdiag.exe Display window just to compare.

Can anyone provide the Nautis modified Intel HD Graphics 2509 driver again. It no longer exists on any of the MultiUpload links.
Or should I just go ahead and work with the Modded inf file that n.dinh90 provided, paired with Intel's newest 2622 driver? And if so, which lines do I change?(there's quite a few in there) -

does the switch have to be in speed for updating intel driver?

Could you share your modified INF?

On a fresh installation of Win7HP64, all drivers installed in this order: http://forum.notebookreview.com/son...-sd-series-owners-thread-529.html#post8246378
Speed switch on. I installed AMD 11.12, then 2622 with n.dinh90 inf, system restore, x92_fermi inf. Each Intel install was launched from setup.exe. (I tried updating from Device Manager but windows wouldn't follow through saying current is up to date.) Killed the AMD driver both times.
Unless there are some obvious things I should try, at this point I am perfectly willing to sacrifice live switching between speed/stamina. Does anyone know how the switch works? I'm hoping that it can function as a basic power switch for the AMD GPU. Then I could just have it switched to Speed at startup if I want that. Or, restart on Stamina if I want that. And just install the latest driver for each, independently. -

Is this INF for the 64-bit version of the driver? or : does the version matter for the INF?
-
It's the inf for the 64 bit driver.

Hi,
I did diff with the 2622 intel driver INF and the file you gave me. There seem to be 100+ lines which have been modified. (the bar on the left with the blue colors show all the lines where the 2 files differ.)
Did you make all these changes?
I have attached a pic showing the few initial changes.
maybe i am missing something.

12.1 is not working on SA. Gives green on videos. Did anyone else noticed this? is there a workaround?

the drivers do not have any improvement for the Sx series graphics cards beyond 11.12 version anyways.

May not be the right thread for this but it IS the switchable graphics thread after all.
Tried the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (dual booting for the sake of it), not surprisingly switchable graphics doesn't work at all. There's a "code 10" against the discrete card in device manager. The sony display driver packages seem to install though nothing ever happens. Windows 8 refuses to install any intel driver other than its own for the intergrated gpu and that's what's running the display.
Just FYI for anyone thinking of installing the preview. -

Nautis could you post a new link for the Intel Graphics driver the link is down. I've tried using the modified .inf with the new intel graphic drivers and the install fails every time.
I'M GOING TO VENT AND HERE'S SOME BACKGROUND
I have had nothing but problems with the graphic card on this computer. I've had to do a clean install with Windows 7 Professional. I installed all the drivers from the Sony Support site. Everything was ok at least until I tried gaming (SWTOR) with this laptop it is slow with poor frame rates. I'm playing the game at super low setting with all the options turned off. I am at a lost. I've called Sony countless times and they are no help I seem to know more than they do. I should of brought a Mac and I thought I would never in my whole life say that. I could be dual booted with OS Lion and Windows 7 and my graphics problems would be resolved.(A slower card but no problems) If anyone could help it would be appeciated. Thanks Everyone sorry to vent but I feel like I have a 1000 dollar paper weight. -

seems like you're gaming with Intel HD3000 instead of Radeon 6630m. was the switch on SPEED when you installed the graphics drivers?

run GPU-Z and select your Radeon GPU from the drop-down menu at the bottom. then click on the Sensors tab at the top and run a 3D-heavy program (e.g., a run of furmark rendering its fluffy torus). watch your GPU usage and Core/Memory clocks to see if you get the 3D clocks or if they stay at the low-power mode 2D clocks. also, make sure your PowerPlay settings in the CCC are correct.

Everything went to max and sound stopped working reinstalled sony drivers to get sound back. what a mess. The graphics were choppy at best. I cant believe this.
edit: im not mad at you -
i dont know if this going to be any help buy im using a 27inch monitor on hdmi with this at 1080p. i just want to be able to play this game at a decent frame rate on 1080p other resolutions look distorted. i dont care if its on low settings i just want it to work. Any ideas?

have you tried restoring to factory settings from the recovery partition? besides, try gaming on the laptop's monitor first to see how it goes before connecting it to your TV.
-
I'm going to give you some more background. This is a clean install (WIN 7 PRO) and its working better but still not what it should be. I have restored this computer 6 times and it has never worked correctly. (Really and i have had it for 7 months) I even had Sony send me their own recovery disc's and still graphic problems. I get the same lag on my computer screen that I get on my monitor. I really would like something to remove these drivers completely with a clean up afterwords because i believe the issue to be on the Intel side of things. The the tray icon for Intel eventually disappears after a few days and I have to reinstall the driver to be able to access the settings. Also the older driver works better for me when I upgrade to the new updated it creates more problems games wont even load if I'm playing them in stamina mode and it crashes the computer. It works with speed but in makes the game more laggy. I don't know.(I do upgrade in speed mode I printed out the directions and follow them to a T (the ones on Sony's update site)and I'm usually playing in speed mode which should be well pretty speedy. This really pisses me off because I'm the biggest Sony Who*e ever. Everything i own is Sony. i really expected more. I can't wait till September I'm buying a mac and so long Sony.
