I'm running my SZ160 in speed mode with Windows Vista. Whenever I wake it from sleep the display blinks a few seconds afterwards. Is there a better driver I can try other than the one Sony supplies on their site that will fix this problem?

You did not make mention of a current video drive. What video driver do you use atm?

    Under Device Manager it says:
    Nvidia Geforce Go 7400
    7.15.10.9746
    12/7/2006

Currently you're using NV 97.46 driver. There is a newer video driver on Sony support site NV 98.13. Try this one.

Thanks, I installed the new driver but strangely my display still blinks as it did before. I thought maybe it has something to do with Windows Sidebar so I closed it but still the same thing. I wonder why?

I have the same problem before, but after I installed the new driver, it looks like it fix it, or may be everytime when I use SPEED mode, I was connecting to the external display and it didn't bother me anymore.

I have use my VAIO for almost 5 months now, and I believed it is safe and no harm to the system with that blink.

Sorry, that it doesn't work for you. I don't think it's Windows Sidebar issue. I notice this blinking, when I dock/undock my SZ and I suppose it happens because the video card check/adjust the proper resolution.
