Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

This happens randomly on a daily basis.

Screen goes black for a few seconds and recovers.

Any solutions? A google search didn't help.

Did it happen when you use IE9?

this used to happen to me on regular basis while using one specific NVIDIA driver. It never happened with previous versions, nor with newer. So try to update your drivers to the latest available if it doesn't help or no newer are available - downgrade.

With the Z, you can't just update the video driver. You need a special driver that allows for the Speed/Stamina switch (or else you'll lose the entire stamina functionality).
So unless you're willing to run hacked drivers and turn off UAC, you're limited to what updated drivers Sony give you, which is exactly NOTHING.

Vaio S requires modified driver too... If I were to stick with the original one I would probably also be using a driver not much newer than his...
I find it hard to believe the drivers can't be modified for the Z the same way they can be modified for S.

Has there been any update on this issue? I still get this constantly, almost always whilst browsing with the latest version of IE9.

    VaioZ128GG, Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
