Many things will stop working because ultimate needs different drivers that are not out. The bluetooth does not work with Ultimate. Sony is also not supporting ultimate at this time.

Err...are you sure about this? It's the same OS with different features enabled/installed. I can't understand why you'd need separate drivers for a different Vista package.

Did you try using the Sony drivers for Vista? I'm running the Sony Vista drivers which are meant for Business on my SZ running Home Premium so that there is an example right there.

Sorry, but this is false. I'm running Ultimate on my SZ260 without problems. Every single device is working properly using the Sony drivers.

I could not get bluetooth or the camera to work properly on my SZ450 with ultimate. I spent over 2 hours with Sony and they said the current divers would not work. I upgraded from business to ultimate. It may work differently if you upgraded from XP to ultimate. Has anyone else upgraded from business to ultimate on the SZ450? If so are you having any problems.

I have Ultimate running reasonably well, WEI of 3.7, all drivers recognised on my VGN-A49CP except for Auto-dimming and volume control. Looking for Vista SonyNC and SonyPI I guess.
Also waiting for 'Zone Remote Commander' and DVGate, as my remote control doesn't work.

Entertainment Centre may be nice too...

I agree with most replies. Ultimate works fine on my sz330p. Although one item is a sore point in the device manager. It is an unknown device that has a hardware id:
    USB\VID_05CA&PID_1830&REV_0100
    USB\VID_05CA&PID_1830

I cannot figure out what it is. Everything I use seems to be working. BTW, MOBILHAVOC - thanks for your help yesterday re driver files and extraction. I ended up installing WinXP back on my drive in partition 1, limiting space to 15G and allocating a second partition to Vista Ultimate. I will blitz the XP partition once Polycom gets their video conferencing sw to work with Vista.

    That's your VGP-VCC2 Webcam on the SZ330P/B.

    See for yourself.

Check out my thread in my signature, have instructions on how to get the camera fully working in Vista.

I used the BT drivers from Sony. Like others on here, a clean install with the supported drivers gave me full functionality (dimming, power managment, webcam, buttons, etc., etc.).

I have a Sony Vaio SZ240F and i have problems installing the VGP-VCC2 camera Driver on a Windows Ultimate. When I try to install the XP driver it says that something is missing in the .inf file. When I check the device in the Device Manager it says that the driver of one device is missing... Anyone can help ? I did everything this forum says. Thanks...

I did a clean install on my FZ with Vista Ultimate and every single feature is working with the stock drivers. Even AV Mode and brightness control.

I have the same problem. Did you ever get it to work? If so, how?
