not sure about the b&m stores, but for the online stores there are no restocking fees, as long as you have all the packaging and you didnt scratch your laptop or anything..
and yes, im pretty positive about what i said because i just returned a Z590 and got a full refund for it -
No restocking fee.

Sony Styles Store do have a restocking fee of 15%, if returned within 14 days. Outside of that time, you're out of luck.

I thought I might take a Z out for a spin to compare it. Not worth the trouble then.

just buy it from amazon they have a 30 day return policy

Amazon now sells notebooks directly. I was too lazy to check if they have a restocking fee. I'm sure you'll have to pay the shipping fee both ways if you return the notebook simply because you didn't like it though. In my experience, amazon takes the hit on shipping if they made the mistake or if it arrived damaged or malfunctioning. -

I just returned my Z590 also with SonyStyle.com - I was within my 20 day no-Q asked return policy and there was NO hassle, I just clicked online "Return items" it gave me a RMA# and I shipped it, they got it, page updated to credit pending
Very easy and no dumb CSR interaction, Lol -
Those who do will also be hit with 15% restocking fee.

Amazon will waive the restocking & shipping fees if the item is damaged/defective, though. But if you are just returning because you changed your mind, then you will be hit with the fees.
-
if you buy from amazon, you have to return them unopened, so you wont be able to test the laptop
-
But again, there are always some ppl who intend to return an item before the purchase.(it doesn't include buyer's remorse or those who return because the merchandise is not what they expected) Isn't is why companies impose restocking fee? So the cost of business result from these ppl doesn't pass onto average customer.

It's sort of hard to compare laptops in the store without using them extensively, plus the fact the Sony Z's are tied down with security ropes.

I can tell you the brick and mortar SonyStyle stores in the USA do charge a 15% restocking fee. They did it when I returned my Z590UAB. It's not buy, try for free to see if you like it, and return if you don't with no penalty. So if online doesn't do it, your better option is to go that way.
IMO, of course.
Do Sony Style Stores have restocking fees?
