If not, would it not be better to go with a traditional drive instead because of the degredation of performance that would occur in an SSD without TRIM?
Thanks for any input.

Good point, surprised this has never been brought up here before

Well yea I figure it makes sense. The SSD will be fragmented to hell, and based on research I have done so far, TRIM is not supported on SSD drives in RAID 0 configuration. Therefore, the Z series is worthless because there is no HDD configuration offered here in the states.

man, i'm gonna go sell mine on ebay before it's too late. thanks for your research

What about garbage collection?
Im pretty sure they are not worthless -
Has anyone complained about performance from those relating to the SSDs?

Im just going to call sony tech support tomorrow morning and ask what they have in place to combat performance degradation for the drive configuration they offer in their Z series.

I own my Z since late March. My SSDs work just like new so far.

S_A, this has been discussed heavily on this forum, in many threads. Search for trim, garbage, degradation or any related term and I'm sure you'll find some. A few of the threads have massive amounts of test data.
Long and short of it is: Sony has some extremely effective way of addressing this issue and thus far the results have been outstanding. There does not seem to be meaningful degradation; the behavior is on par with TRIM, though it's not using TRIM itself.
Qwaarjet, I lol'd as well. -
SSD threads are plentiful on these forums; been so since the Z11 came out (with Zoinks going crazy with tests). Agreed; search and research before posting...
Though to help namaiki (you're from CCCP forums right...?).
There has been ONE or TWO complaints with the SSD's slowing down; these machines were 6 months old when this occured. Though note; the slow-downs were almost neglible. They were only seen through benchmark testing.
Apparently, these individuals didn't install something (if memory serves correct, INTEL RAID MANAGER). The thing with VPC-Z is just leave it to idle and the SSDs will do their magic, automatically and by themselves.
Heck, I see my VGN-Z with a HDD cleaning itself up if I leave it to idle on W7.
Do the SSD's on the VAIO Z series come with TRIM?
