After 1 day of use: 9.5/ 10. I haven't tried any games/ DVD's/ music, etc., yet though so that is a very preliminary impression. There's no doubt it is a great machine.

And I like the keyboard but I'm definitely in the minority on that so far.

After 2 days of use 9.5/10 ...and I like the keyboard!! I had an S260 before and the page up/down/home/end buttons were stupid function keys - now they added dedicated buttons for that and I'm in heaven (I'm such a geek). As I said in other posts, the keyboard's key travel is great and its quite comfortable - took me about 5mins to adjust...I had a Sony S260 previously and before that an IBM T41 so I know good keyboards - the IBM is still the best, but this one is just fine.

The SZ160 loses the .5 because they shipped it to me with 2x512mb memory chips instead of the 1x1gig chip they told me was in there - be aware of this! I'm now battling Sony to get refunded for the 512's so I can put in my own 2x1gig chips.

    Happy trails.

I was the big complainer and I would have to give mine a 9.5 too. I am loving it now and so glad I kept it!

BTW... The keyboard is fine, don't let that stop you from buying the SZ.

I have had my SZ160 now for 3 days. I have no problem with the keyboard. I kinda like the softer quieter feel that it has.

    It is a great notebook.

My only complaint with the keyboard is I am still getting used to the fact that the space bar on my compaq was a lot more sensitive when typing... I am finding I am having to hit the space bar harder in the center of it (will not work to the sides of it) than on my V2140US... Other than that, I am quite happy...
