I use it to login to websites, login to my computer, to unlock my "safe" which has some vital stuff in there

i can't see why anyone wouldn't use it, as once you get used to swiping, its a hell of a lot faster than typing

Ditto. Fingerprint scanner is definitely one of the coolest features of this notebook. I'm not sure I'd get another notebook without it now.

Yes, you can use it instead of your password on boot. Like some of the other participants in this forum, I've noticed that there are times, maybe when my fingers are cold or just after a shower when they are wrinkled, when the fingerprint scanner is not as responsive. Of course, this always seems to be the time in the morning when I am first turning on the computer. So if the scanner does not respond to 1 or 2 swipes of my finger, I end up entering the password manually.

I have found the most useful feature of the fingerprint scanner to be when I am entering password protected websites that I need to access frequently, like NotebookReview.com. You do not even need to call up Internet Explorer. Simply swipe your finger and choose from a list of your password-protected websites. It automatically enters the URL for the website, along with the user name and password. Now that's a real time-saver!

Haven't you heard? That's a security feature. It's so someone can't just kill you, cut off your finger and use it to access the super secret data on your notebook. ;) :p

The fingerprint scanner is cool indeed, but now I am getting into another type of troubles. Working on a different computer, like in my office, is getting pretty harder and harder. I just can't recollect all my passwords :)))

I can't use the scanner. It was working fine for about a week because all I did was play with my computer, but as soon as I started climbing again, the sensor would fail to match. It would start working again after 2-3 days of not climbing. I ended up disabling it to save battery power.

    Skrunch.

Roboform sounds like an Autofill function that Google Toolbar has right? I never used it.

Though the fingerprint reader works for quiet a number of things not only Firefox...

I don't like to store any credit card/personal info in the browser itself. When other people use my machine, the browser fills in all my info, and they have access to my email, bank accounts, etc... With the fingerprint reader, I have to PHYSICALLY be there for the authentication to automatically work.

Which is why I bought a fingerprint reader for my office PC - once I got used to not typing in passwords, I couldn't go back...

No, it's actually a strong encryption password manager. Has nothing to do with Google Toolbar.
