Does anyone know for sure if Sony's LCDs use dithering to generate 8-bit color?

Apple has been sued for using 6-bit panels plus dithering to generate 8-bit color. If you're not familiar with what this is here's an article http://compreviews.about.com/od/multimedia/a/LCDColor.htm

I have an SZ680 and if I watch closely I can see what appears to be a matrix/cross-hatch pattern on what should be solid colors during motion.

Nobody sees any artifacts during movement in video or even just moving a colored window around the screen?
