I can't seem to find parts for my TR5AP. Namely, the MotionEye webcam.
I go to the website and select my model, but when click on Parts it takes me to the accessories page!

This has been my experience with every Vaio I've worked on. It's as if Sony purposely makes repair impossible so you'll get frustrated and buy one.

With Dell, I can punch in my Service Tag and it tells me all the parts and even replacement instructions.

Where does one go for parts and information? I don't even know the part number to Google it. It just says "MotionEye".

I called those incompetent fools and they told me that they did not sell the camera as an assembly and that it's 9 different parts:

    • window $35.98
    • cover $28.11
    • ring $19.87
    • bezel $30.84
    • shaft $4.80
    • camera $147.97
    • hinge $25.27
    • housing $22.31
    GRAND TOTAL: $315.15

I said thanks but no thanks and his response was "Thanks for calling Sony!" in the voice of like Big Gay Al and screamed at the top of his lungs " BYE!!!"

    Just thinking...
Because Sony sells the camera in pieces, wouldn't that enable you to just replace the part that is broken on your laptop?

I'm sorry to hear about it - at the same time it makes amusing reading (please dont take offense) - you've written it well.

If I knew which part has failed, I'd replace it.
